We have all heard of the Hope Diamond. Very soon we will be welcoming the next treasure..a spinel belonging to the same collection as the Hope Diamond is due to hit Bonham’s' Fine Jewellery auction, to be held on 24th September.
 

This will be the first time in 98 years the beautiful octagonal cut, rose-hued, 50.13ct spinel has seen the market.
 

Its last appearance in 1917 fetched an amazing £1,060 which doesn’t sound like a lot, but convert this to the power of the £ today and it’s the equivalent of £80,000!

The Spinel has been described as an exceptional treasure, with exceptional transparency, flawless cut with a beautiful colour. The spinel has been confirmed as sourced from the ancient Kuh-i-Lal mines in Tajikistan, renowned for being difficult access, making this stone a real treasure! Roll on the 24th September!
